Waste Management & Skip Hire Tips

When it comes to managing our waste on building and construction projects, whether it is commercial or domestic, it is important we dispose of our waste correctly and in a environmentally friendly manor. The days of using mass 'Landfills' and illegal 'Fly Tipping' are well and truely behind us, I have always advised others in the trade to manage their waste in a way to benefit the environment, by recycling as much of their waste as possible.

A great way to recycle domestic and commercial building waste is Skip Hire. Skips can come a whole range of sizes including your very small (Domestic) 2yard mini skips, to your much larger (Commercial) 12 yard builder skips and upto huge Roll On Roll Off (RORO) skips. In this day and age, skip hire is a very cost effective solution for the hardcore DIYers, local builders and large construction sites.

Find The Right Skip Hire

Right, now you have decided you need to hire a skip, you need to make decisions about the following:
  • What Type Of Waste Are You Removing? (Only certain types of waste can go in a regular Skip, however other types (Hazardous) can be put in specialist skips, which can be arranged by speaking to your local skip hire company)
  • What Size Skip Do You Need? (As i have mentioned above, there are various type of standard skip sizes ranging from 2 cubic yards right upto 16 cubic yard skips. If you are not sure about the size of skip you require, speak to you local skip hire company, they will be able to advise.)
  • How Long Do You Need The Skip For? (As standard the majority of skip hire prices are based on a standard 1 week skip hire term, however this is not to say you cannot request it longer.)
Now... which local skip hire company do you use? You do not have to take my advice, but I personally use Topskips.com who are the experts when it comes to local, trusted and affordable skip hire.

I hope you have found this skip hire and waste management information provided on my 'Blog' useful...
